Mr. Peterson was admitted to practice in 2000 and is widely considered an expert in the field of workers’ compensation and labor and employment issues. He is often used in the field of professional sports, though he maintains a loyal clientele with employers and insurance carriers in other employment sectors as well. He has spoken at dozens of conferences including for the American Bar Association, the National Workers’ Compensation Conference and the Major League Baseball Winter meetings. He regularly provides seminars and training sessions for clients and has been quoted in numerous national publications including the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times.
Mr. Peterson specializes in providing litigation and appellate service to clients. He is an expert in risk management and advises clients on complex insurance issues and business decisions. He was consulted to provide advice on two collective bargaining agreements for professional sports leagues and has been involved in legislative efforts surrounding workers’ compensation bills in multiple states.
Mr. Peterson has tried countless cases to conclusion, drafted and responded to dozens of appeals, has argued before the California Court of Appeals and in Federal Court and has petitioned and responded to several cases before the California Supreme Court. He was at the forefront of professional sports workers’ compensation legislation in California in 2013 and has several reported cases.
Mr. Peterson regularly handles cases for a variety of industries including the entertainment industry, trucking industry, retail and food services industry and construction industry. Mr. Peterson believes that the best advocates are true partners with their clients, and he endeavors to develop a deep understanding of each client and their business practices.
Mr. Peterson lives in south Orange County, CA and is married with four boys. When able, he loves to get outside and play golf, spend time in the mountains, or fish.
